Drunk Food
« on: May 17, 2017, 11:20:56 PM »
I Get Drunk. I make Food. Everyones invited to post drunk food.

Sunshine Burger. Medium Rare. Cucumber, Chimichurri, garlic mayo, salt and pepper. Fries around the sides, pickle cut in half. Fuck ya.

Edit: Most food inspired while drunk, poor Af, and desperate to eat something.

Typically I'm cooking drunk after I walk home from work after beers and whatnot. I get a hankering sober, have a shit load of vegetables prepped (everything in there was already cut and in a container), and just throw shit into a pan and douse it with canola oil after the nights drinking. I'd had around 6-7 drinks between home and work for this. Overall, this diet plan of getting drunk and making vegetables is working out pretty well.

I have canola oil in a squirt bottle by the stove. I can just use that to squirt it in without too much effort. Plus I don't have to pay an arm and a leg.

We call it rape seed oil. Most of our cheap oil is just branded as 'vegetable oil' and could literally be anything lol. I tend to use olive oil unless I'm cooking something like bacon.

Wife makes sure we buy extra virgin olive oil for cooking.  I buy peanut oil for deep frying on the rare occasion we do that.

Extra virgin olive oil is more for dressings or quick cooking veggies. The smoke point https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smoke_point is important because cooking at a heat higher than your oil can stand causes a chemical reaction that turns your healthy oil unhealthy.

Interesting.  I've heard of smoke point on oils before, but haven't read anything about it.  We mainly use it when cooking chicken on the stove, just a little bit, not like pan frying.  We also use it for veggies and chicken in the oven at 350*.  Looks like we are close to the smoke point there.

Avacado oil has a smoke point of like 500, I think coconut oil is high as well.

Canola oil is never healthy for you though, unfortunately. Perhaps you don't care, but since the forum suddenly seems interested in health&fitness I thought I'd point that out.

Canola is cheap. I've never read how healthy it was because I don't use it much. I prefer butter for most cooking in a pan or skillet. Never used avocado. Never seen avocado.
